Sabine Lewis joined the Arts & Sciences Outreach Department at Oklahoma State University in 1995 as course developer and instructor for the German K-12 distance learning program. In this capacity, she developed distance learning courses in German for elementary and middle school students from 1995 to 1998, online German high school courses from 2001-2003, and the first German 1115 OSU online course in 2005.

A native of Germany, Sabine got her B.S. in German Literature and Language, English Literature and Language, and Education from Hamburg University, Germany, in 1976. In 2001, Dr. Lewis received her M.S. in Education from OSU and completed her Ph.D. in 2011 with research on the German Online high school program. Dr. Lewis was named ‘Oklahoma German Teacher of the Year’ in 2005 and received the 2009 “Best Practices Award” from the Oklahoma Distance Learning Association.

Dr. Lewis is an active member of the American Association of Teachers of German, and the International Society for Technology in Education. She served as vice-president and president of the Oklahoma Chapter of AATG from 1998 to 2002 and as Secretary for the Oklahoma Foreign Language Association from 1999 to 2001. Since 2002 Dr. Lewis has been an AP German Reader for the College Board and has served as a Network Teacher for the Goethe Institut.
