Developing Supplemental Courses

artsupplementalTo propose a new on-campus supplemental course:


Contact your department head, and request authorization to teach a supplemental on-campus course through Outreach. Determine the course you plan to teach and the days/times you plan to offer the course.
(Must be after 3:30 p.m. or on the weekends or during intersession).

Email Outreach coordinator, Christine Nichols, to set up an appointment to come in and discuss course development, date/times and obtain salary information.

Deadlines for submitting course proposals:

Supplemental courses should be in Banner prior to the opening of enrollment. Courses added after the opening of enrollment tend not to meet the minimum enrollment requirements. It is best if you notify Christine about your intention to offer a new supplemental course well before the course draft process initiates for each term.

Enrollment opens in October for Spring (deadline for supplemental courses, September 1) and March for Fall (deadline for supplemental courses, Feb 1). However, course approvals should be initiated much earlier (April for Spring, October for Fall).

Courses offered through Outreach will have course approval forms generated and sent at the appropriate time.

Information on marketing and promotional support:

Supplemental courses are advertised via fliers and posters, as well as via email to advisers.

Specific course information may be publicized on social media.

Additional individual marketing and support is available upon request.

Intersession courses are publicized in the O’Colly and online.
