Community Education and Non-Credit Programs

Arts and Sciences Outreach offers non-credit programming to area residents regarding subjects that fall within the Arts & Sciences subject areas. The purpose of these courses is to share staff and faculty expertise with the community, especially those not otherwise admissible to OSU, and in doing so, create a bridge or an engagement opportunity.

Course are taught by OSU staff and faculty with expertise (personal or professional) in a given area. These courses may be offered on or off campus. These courses are self-sustaining, and as such, registration fees are required. The registration fee is designed to cover the instructor’s salary and administrative expenses of the course.

Types of non-credit courses previously offered include:

  • Acting Basics
  • Summer Art Academy
  • American Sign Language
  • Genre Studies
  • Introduction to Guitar
  • Memoir Writing
  • Just Fiction: Novel Writing Series
